When to place accounts for collections

If an account is 90 days delinquent, you should place the account with a certified collection agency.  By this point you have probably sent out notices and maybe even had the time to make a few phone calls.

However, there may be circumstances when you should immediately place an account with a collection agency.

• The client has promised to make payment and has broken the promise.
• The customer’s phone is disconnected.
• The customer continues to ask for documentation, even though you have supplied it – they are trying to delay payment.
• You have talked with your client and they refuse to pay and/or initiate a payment schedule.
• Your client has repeatedly promised to pay, yet you do not receive payment.
